There’s only one destination of vacation for most children i.e Grandma’s place. I visited my grandma’s place to Anand,Gujarat.
Anand district, the name that has been inscribed in golden letters in the history of modern India because of White revolution.It is a place known for its semi-rural set up and the Swami Narayan Mandir which is the crown jewel of the city. An emerging city, Anand still has traces of its rural past which can be seen when one is traveling to this wonderful city.
While traveling to Anand, one can also go through the history and the factories of one of the biggest dairy companies in the world, its main attraction with devotees and lovers of architecture coming from all parts of the state to experience its enchanting beauty. Anand, gives you a place for some relaxation and rejuvenation in a very peaceful urban setting. The city is known for being very welcoming and peaceful.
The best time to visit is from August to February. In summer, the heat is soaring. The city is well connected to National highway no. 8, Anand railway station, Vadodara airport and Ahmedabad Airport.

Sardar Patel Memorial.
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel museum was set up in the year 1978 by Shri Babubhai Jasbhai Patel, the then Hon. Chief Minister. The museum was later enhanced in 2013 with the inclusion of interactive exhibits. The museum showcases artefacts and the belongings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and also includes two multimedia halls that shed light on various aspects of Sardar’s life and work with interactive and experiential exhibits. Best attraction of the museum is the 3D sound, light and lasers show, permanent set up, is a unique experience, first of its kind in India that takes you back in time and narrates the story of our motherland, India.
AMUL Chocolate Factory.
A great place to visit for all the chocolate lovers out there, to witness the process that goes behind making chocolate. For all those who wish to see what goes on behind making one of the most loved things in the world, Amul allows visitors into its factory at Anand. One can see through all the stages of chocolate production, right from the earliest of stages to packaging.
Flo Art gallery.
Spread over an area of 1000 sq. meters, the Flo Art Gallery in Anand is huge one established in 1995. This gallery is popular for regional folk,handmade artistic utilitarian articles,handicrafts,cottage industry articles and household items. Known for its amazing collection, the gallery serves as a center of display for best quality cottage industry handicraft items and a great variety of artifacts crafted in rural Gujurat. This place is paradise for shoppers as well as photographers.
BAPS Lord Swaminarayan Temple.
Large Hindu worship complex with striking architectural features & a peaceful atmosphere.The idols are Harikrishna Maharaj and Narayan Lakshmi located in the 1st shrine, Guruparampara placed in the 2nd shrine, Guru Parampara in the 3rd shrine, Shri Akshar Purushottam Maharaj in the 4th shrine and Lord Ghanshyam Maharaj in the 5th shrine. The temple surrounding is breath taking.
Vallabh Vidyanagar.
Vallabh Vidyanagar is a town and a municipality in Anand district. V.V.Nagar is known as educational hub of Gujarat. It is a home to prestigious Birla Vishwakarma Mahavidyalaya and Sardar Patel University. It has fancy restro and cafes. You can spent your time in big multiplexes watching movies or shopping in malls.
